Included in this report are a brief project description, list of design requirements, and the final design. A discussion of the various options considered for the fire training tower’s structural materials, burn room materials, and pump test pit designs is also provided. The final design of the fire training tower includes a burn room and facilities for a Denver drill, movable apparatuses, and a basement rescue. The final pump test pit design includes a 30,000 gallon cast-in-place concrete pit with a protective metal plate on the entrance opening and a screen to filter large debris. A site plan is included for this area of Rokicki Park. This report also includes information on the tower’s foundation design, structural framing plans, site work, and a cost estimate. The nearest training and testing facilities are located in Terre Haute or Indianapolis. The fire chief has stated that to remain on the leading edge of firefighting techniques and maneuvers the department needs a training tower. He also stated that to properly test their pumping equipment and remain in compliance with federal and state regulations they need a pump test pit. These facilities are to be located on a 1.6-acre lot on the southwest edge of Greencastle. The training and testing facilities will be placed near the lot boundary and leave the central location for the future development of other fire department facilities. This report includes the engineering design of the fire training tower, the pump test pit, and the site design. A two story training tower is proposed at the eastern edge of the lot. The tower will be a 24 feet by 24 feet steel framed structure with sheet metal cladding that features a 12 feet by 12 feet burn room. The burn room will be built using Westemp® panels. The tower floor plan was designed according to the desires of the fire chief and holds paramount the safety of the trainees. The tower includes an enclosed stairwell, a hole in the floor for simulating basement rescues, a Denver drill apparatus, and a 12 feet by 24 feet room with chest high obstructions. The obstructions are designed so that they can be moved into different locations and arrangements inside the room for various training exercises. The cost of this tower is approximately $65,000. The site design will accommodate a pump test pit along with the fire tower. The reinforced concrete pump test pit is proposed on the southern end of the lot. The test pit
