Allows an old slow client to establish a terminal connection to the server and do all the processing on that server. Terminal services feature is transparent to the userTerminalconnectionTerminalconnectionNote: Terminal services use the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) within TCP/IP24TS vs. RDA Terminal Services: Ability for users to remotely connect to a server and run applications installed on that server Used to centralize control of applications TS is not installed by default Remote Desktop for Administration Ability for the administrator to remotely connect to a server for administration purpose Ability for users to remotely connect to another computer and run application programs RDA is installed by default, but not enabled.5Enabling RDA Log on to the server as administrator Click Start / Control Panel / System Click the Remote tab Check the Allow users to connect remotely to this computer check box When the Remote session dialog box opens, click OK Click the Select Remote Users button. Add a user account form yourlastnameOU to the list of users allowed to remotely log on to the server. Click OK6Testing the RDA as administrator Log on as the administrator from a computer other than yours Click Start/All Programs/Accessories /Communications/Remote Desktop Connection In the Computer text box, type in the IP address of the server you want to connect to. Provide the administrator’s user name and password. Then click the Connect button Once connected, check that you (as administrator) are able to do any administrative job.37Testing the RDA as a user Log on as the administrator from a computer other than yours Click Start/All Programs/Accessories /Communications/Remote Desktop Connection In the Computer text box, type in the IP address of the server you want to connect to. Then click the Connect button Once connected, check that you (as a user) are able to get access to application programs on the server, but you’re not able to do administrative job.8Installing TS Click Start / Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs Click the Add/Remove Windows Components button In the Windows Components Wizard window, click the check box next to Terminal Services If a Configuration Warning dialog box appears, click Yes, then click Next At the TS setup screen, read the message at TS license and click Next On the next screen, make sure that Full Security is selected and then click Next On the next screen, check the I will Specify a License Server Within 120 days radio button, and click Next On the next screen select the Per-Server licensing mode, and click Next Click Finish When asked whether or not you want to restart the server, click
