1 The sexual intercourse between Hera and Zues in book 14 was majorly a tactical play by Hera to help lead the Achaeans to victory Her seduction of Zues took his guard down and weakened him In a ritualistic context the sexual intercourse is like a symbol of vulnerability as Zues dethroned himself from power to make love with Hera 2 Both the divine lottery in the Iliad and the birth of Zues and his brothers in Theogony have very similar accounts The birth in Theogony is recited where Hesiod simply states the Cronos descendants in the event that it occurred In the Iliad the divine lottery is also an account of these births but it is explained in a past tense from one of Zues brothers where both Zues and Hades aspects are described The Iliad does not account for the part where Cronos eats the children shortly after they are born 3 Zues could have saved Sarpedon in the battle but he chose not to With Sarpedon being a mortal fighting for the Trojans in the war fate decided that he was going to die Even though Zues had the power to save him Zues did not because he did not want to overpower the entity of fate 4 Although Patroclus was not meant to be killed I do believe his death is fair Patroclus instigated his death by borrowing Achilles armor to go on a quest to fight against the Trojans He came across Hector a powerful warrior of the Trojans and Hector thought Patroclus was Achilles This led to Hector brutally killing Patroclus all while thinking it is Achilles Although Hector realized he killed the wrong person Patroclus death is still fair because his intent was to fight against the Trojans so he went in with the risk that he could be killed
