COURSE OBJECTIVE This five-day instructor-led course provides students with product knowledge and skills needed to maintain a Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2005 database. GOALS Students will gain skills in: • Using SQL Server 2005 product features. • Using tools related to maintaining a database. LEARNING OUTCOMES After completing the course, students will be able to: • Install and configure SQL Server 2005 • Manage database files. • Manage security. • Perform administrative tasks. • Backup databases. • Restore databases. • Monitor SQL Server. • Troubleshoot SQL Server. • Transfer data. • Maintain high availability. PREREQUISITE Before attending this course, students must have: • Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Windows operating system and its core functionality. • Working knowledge of Transact-SQL. • Working knowledge of relational databases. • Some experience with database design. In addition, it is recommended, but not required, that students have completed: • Course 2778, Writing Queries Using Microsoft SQL Server Transact-SQL. • Course 2779, Implementing a Microsoft SQL Server Database.-3- Revised 5/04/07 • Course 2778, Writing Queries Using Microsoft SQL Server Transact-SQL. REQUIRED TEXTBOOK The provided student kit includes a comprehensive workbook and other necessary materials for this workshop. COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS This is a 40-hour instructor guided course. Student will complete hands-on, in-class assignments. ATTENDANCE To fully benefit from the class, students are expected to attend all classes. REQUIREMENTS FOR COURSE COMPLETION CERTIFICATE To receive a Certificate of Completion and be awarded Continuing Education Units, students must meet the following requirements: • Attend at least 80% of scheduled class time • Complete the course lab demonstrating 80% mastery of course concepts or equivalent skills demonstration to instructor.
