Mozart and His FatherII. Concerto FormCurrent LectureI. Mozart and His Fathera. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756- 1791) was born a “wunderkind”. Extremely talented as a performer at an impressively young age, Mozart was frequently asked to perform for high society and royalty in his early years as a musician and performer. His father supported him in all this, giving Wolfgang much advice and assistance as he could possibly offer and traveled with his son. The more Mozart played and performed the more public attention he received. In time, this public attention is what made up his growing public image. b. As Wolfgang grew older, his father realized that the days of traveling with his child-protégée son were coming to a close. When Mozart was 17 years old, his father urged him to take on a position as Kapellmeister in Salzburg. He believed and was convicted that this was the only way for a respectable and well-sought after musician was to choose this type of career path. For Wolfgang, years of travelling and performing as a child protégée in that social sphere did not suit him in any way. He was dismissed from this position though and sent to Vienna. c. Forced to go to Vienna, Austria, Mozart began billing himself as a concert pianist for subscription concert for the royalty and the public.i. It was about this time in similar weather when he began his prolific composing his many composers. ii. Mozart became famous and well-known for trying to balance the aspect of music that is inventive and rich and deep with a popular outlook. II. Concerto Forma. Concerto form- Exposition, Recapitulation, Development combined with ritornello form. R1 Exposition R2 Development R3 Recapitulation R4 Cadenza
