ANTH 101 1st Edition Lecture 1 Outline of Last Lecture I N A Outline of Current Lecture INTRODUCTION II Syllabus A What is Anthropology B Office Hours C Policy D Assignment Breakdown E Pop Quizzes F Attendance G Videos III Homework Current Lecture II Syllabus A Anthropology is a diverse field promoting a holistic view of existing humanity this class will cover a wide range of material Anthropology is the study of humankind and therefore encompasses everything B Office hours are Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 00am 12 00pm or by appointment if you miss one appointment you may reschedule however if you miss two appointments you will not be permitted to reschedule for another appointment C If you use a laptop for taking notes in class you must sit in the front rows and the privileged may be revoked if misused Class time will be used for lectures class discussions and videos related to the topics being discussed in class If sources are included in assignments they must be cited using SAA guidelines DO NOT print any assignments front to back These notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor s lecture GradeBuddy is best used as a supplement to your own notes not as a substitute Assignments will be turned in during class D Assignment Breakdown Exams three 200 points Archaeology Project Garbology 50 points Cultural Research Paper 100 points Classroom Participation and Decorum 150 points Video Notes 6 10 points each Pop Quizzes 8 5 points each Participation 50 points E Pop quiz questions are guaranteed to be on the exam if you are over five minutes late to class you will not be able to take the pop quiz Pop quizzes are un announced F Attendance is taken during the first week of class but not the remainder of the term Excused absences can be made up this includes the pop quizzes G Videos will be shown periodically during class time and have to do with material being discussed in class at the time Videos will be discussed in class during the next class session and video worksheets will be handed back at that time as well
