Mounting and intromission occur followed by engorgement of the bulbis glands1. The initial penetration; the dog only ejaculates a small portion of highly concentrated sperm2. The second penetration; the dog is tied, the dog ejaculates a lot of sperm.b. Diagnosisi. Palpationii. Ultrasoundiii. Radiographs 1. Skeletons calcify about day 452. You can then see each pup ii. Relaxin1. Blood sample2. If the blood sample is positive for relaxin at about twenty days, the bitch is pregnantb. Gestationi. You can determine when the bitch will give birth by taking rectal temperature every day ii. The temperature is usually 100 - 100.5 iii. If it drops o 99 - 98 the bitch will give birth at 8 - 12 hoursiv. The dog will also start nestingv. The dog might stop eating vi. Will pantvii. Delivery1. The bitch or a human needs to remove the amniotic sac and stimulate breathing2. The puppies need to eat within one hour to get the colostrum3. The puppies need to defecate meconium within one houra.
