Background- Deutscher Werkbund proposed that an exhibition be held in 1927 - demonstrate the latest thinking about housing design, interior fittings, and construction technology- Mies van der Rohe, as vice-president of the Werkbund, was in charge of the enterprise- Mies developed the master plan and contributed the design of a block of flats - The majority contributors were German, e.g. Mies van der Rohe, Gropius, Hilberseimer, Taut, Scharoun- J.J.P.Oud and Mart Stam were invited from Holland; Victor Bourgeois from Belgium; Le Corbusier from FranceB.
