Stress and Health Psychology- Stresso Negative emotional state in response to events that have exceeded ability to cope - Cognitive appraisal model of stresso Model of stress that emphasizes the role of an individual’s evaluation of events - Adequate resources = Less stress - Inadequate resources = Stress- Health psychologyo Studies how biological, behavioral and social factors influence health related behaviors - Biopsychosocial modelo Belief that physical health/illness are determined by complex interaction of bio, psych and social factors II. Life events and change- Any change (positive or negative) is stressful- More than 150 life change units = Physical/ Psychological illness - Link between scores on SRSS and development of phys.
