Michael WinterEnglish 102Ms. Cho1/18/12Symbols and What They EvokeMany objects and symbols evoke thoughts and emotions when I see them. These thoughts make these products wanted by certain audiences. I have seen all of the symbols given by EA and I have memories behind each of them. Each one of them try and reach different audiences by evoking certain emotions for certain people. I will tell what each evokes for me and who it is trying to reach.The nike check is the symbol that I am most familiar with. I have worn nike clothing andshoes ever since I was little. I have many of their t shirts and about eight pairs of their shoes. The nike shoosh is perhaps one of the most recognizable symbols in the world. It is extremely popular wherever you go. The word nike was the name for the Greek goddess of victory. Sowhen I hear or see the word nike, it has a positive connotation because I think of victory. Many athletes are sponsored by nike and wear their products. This makes anyone who is a fan of the athlete want to wear the same apparel. Nike tries to attract many age groups because of the different styles available. The golden arches of McDonalds is the next symbol that I am very familiar with. This symbol is even more recognized than the nike swoosh. There is a Mcdonalds in hundreds of countries world-wide. Kids grow up eating this for breakfast, lunch, and dinner multiple times a week. McDonalds’ audience is any age group. They attract people with delicious pictures of their food. A can of coca cola is more recognizable than probably any other soft drink in the world. The red and white swirls are known world-wide. Also coke has been around for about a hundredyears, so generations have enjoyed this drink. This also attracts any age group. After looking at all these symbols they make me think of my child hood and even presentday college life. I also noticed that all of these symbols are very American.
