English 1021/23/12Ms. ChoMichael WinterSWA Number 3After looking at the picture I figured out that it is about the exigencies that arise when talking about fuel consumption. We as Americans are using up a lot of fossil fuels that are polluting our atmosphere. The picture shows a man putting corn into a trough while people line up their cars to consume the corn as ethanol. The cars have mouths and look like animals on a farm at feeding time. While the people are in the car they are saying, “Pardon me but do you have any food?” This is ironic because of the corn that the cars are eating up right in front of their eyes. They look on the people’s faces are very alert and worried. The argument this picture is trying to make is that we need to stop using up so many fossil foods while food is scarce in some parts of the world. Corn is used in the making ofethanol which we are using so much of. The elements in the picture such as the image of the cars eating up all of the corn while the people get nothing, is the main element in making this argument clear. You could argue that corn is not a big worry for most people, but countries all over this world have a scarcity of crops like corn. I myself cannot relate to the argument that this picture is trying to make, but that is only because I have no problems with food. I also thinkthat this picture is not necessary because most people who drive cars and use fossil fuels simply do it because they have to. They have to make it to work or to wherever they need to go in a timely manner. I do applaud the artist for making the argument very clear in this picture. There was no confusion when I was trying to figure out what the artist tried to get across. The argument is not very sound or valid. The premises seem to be true or false according on the opinion of the
