If you forgot your CPR login name, click on “Users: forgot your login information?” on the CPR login page. If you have NEVER used the CPR on-line writing assignment, click on “New Users: first time logging in?” on the CPR login page to complete the user account profile. Follow the instructions on screen (Note: Institution is UCLA for all of you). First time CPR users: After you login to CPR, you will need to complete an on-line CPR tour as well as the pre-test before starting the writing assignment. Your user ID is randomly generated by the CPR program. Please make sure that you keep a record of your CPR user ID. Second CPR On-Line Writing Assignment: “Mass Spectroscopy of p-Chlorobenzophenone” IMPORTANT: I recommend all of you to complete each stage of the assignment earlier than the due date. If there are technical difficulties with the program, you still have time to re-submit the assignment. If you wait till the last minutes and if there are problems with the program, you will miss the due date. Stage 1: Text Entry This stage of the assignment starts on Thursday (5/26) at noon and ends on Thursday (6/2) at 11pm. Stage 2: Calibrations This stage of the assignment starts on Friday (6/3) at noon and ends on Monday (6/6) at 11pm. Stage 3: Peer Reviews and Self-Assessment This stage of the assignment starts on Monday (6/6) anytime after 11pm and ends on Friday (6/10) at 11pm. IMPORTANT: You will NOT be allowed to complete the writing assignment without completing Stage 1. This means that if you miss the deadline for Stage 1 (see above) of the CPR assignment, your score for the writing assignment will be a ZERO. Stage 4: Results You can obtain the results on-line starting on Friday (6/10) anytime after 11pm.The following information will be useful when you are working on Stage 2 & 3 of the CPR assignment Student Guidelines for Rating CPR Essays When assigning a score, use the whole scale of 10 points. Definitions of the scores: • 1 or 2 - The discussion is completely unsatisfactory. The text does not demonstrate that the author has an understanding of the principles. Serious mis-statements have been made. The discussion is disorganized and unclear. • 3 or 4 - The discussion is not a finished effort. The text indicates that the author has only a vague understanding of the principles involved. Erroneous statements have been made. The text lacks good organization or clarity in presentation. • 5 or 6 - The discussion is acceptable but does not demonstrate the author has a sophisticated understanding of the concepts. The text contains errors in statements and possibly some irrelevant statements. An attempt at organization and clear presentation has been made. • 7 or 8 - The discussion is a good quality effort. The text indicates the author has an understanding of the principles and no erroneous statements are made. Some inappropriate references to details may be included. Sections of the text are organized and clear. • 9 or 10 - The discussion excels in all areas. The text indicates that the author has a sophisticated understanding of the concepts without unnecessary statements. If appropriate the text may contain suggestions for improvements or further studies. All statements are correct. The text is well organized and clearly presented.
