GradeBuddy is best used as a supplement to your own notes, not as a substitute.o Disengaged – extreme separateness, little family loyalty.o Connected – emotional independence, some involvement and belonging.o Cohesive – emotional closeness, loyalty, involvement, and belonging.o Enmeshed – extreme closeness, loyalty, little to no individuality.- Parenting Styles:o Authoritarian – high levels of control, low warmth.o Authoritative – balance of control and warmth.o Permissive – low level of control, high in warmth.- Family Flexibility:o Allows families to change and adapt by creating shared meanings. Some adapt fluidly with ease. Some are rigid, cannot adapt easily. Some change too much (no stability).o Family flexibility (adaptability) – how family systems manage stability and change. Rigid families = low. Chaotic families = high.- Levels of Family Flexibility:o Rigid – autocratic decision-making styles and strict roles and rules.o Structure – authoritarian, some equalitarian leadership and stable roles and rules.o Flexible – negotiation and decision-making and easily changed roles and rules.o Chaotic – no leadership, confused decision-making and varied roles and rules.- The Circumplex Model:o Crossing the axes of flexibility and cohesion, Olson created this model to better understand the family
