1 G473 Class Project – Luckiamute Watershed Presentations Assigned April 27, 2004 – Presentation Dates May 11 and May 13, 2004 Assignment: Student teams of two are to review select background material on the Luckiamute Watershed and present it to the class. The background material will be derived from the “Luckiamute Watershed Assessment” which is currently being conducted by the Luckiamute Watershed Council. Each team will be assigned a section of the assessment to present to the class. Presentation Format: (1) Student teams are to provide bullet-style summaries of pertinent topic information. Emphasis should be placed on graphics, figures, and bulleted outlines, rather than long-winded written narratives. The presentations should be generally organized as follows: A. Title Slide / Overhead - with title of your paper, the authors of the paper, your name B. Talk outline slide / overhead - an outline, in order, of the topics you will discuss (tell us what you are going to talk about) C. Body of Talk - well-organized, key information, data, and findings of your paper D. Summary or Conclusion - bullet-style summary of what you talked about, the main points (2) Each team member is to take a turn orally presenting a portion of the material. Students are encouraged to use Powerpoint / computer projector for their presentations, however overheads are also acceptable. Powerpoint presentations will look much more impressive to the instructor (remember this is a competitive sport!). A scanner is available in NS218a if students want to print out maps, graphs, or tables from the report, scan them, and insert them into a powerpoint presentation. (3) Each team will also provide a summary handout to accompany their presentation. The handout should include an abstract, bullet-style summary of main points, and cut-and-paste important figures (get a copy to Dr. Taylor ahead of time so that I can copy for the rest of your class mates). The handout will form the basis of study materials / notes for exam-related questions.
