BIO 101: Chpt 6/7- Photosynthesis/cell respiration

Study Flashcards
Front Back
Chloroplasts
organelles in plants and algae that can obsorb light.
chlorophyll
green color, light-absorbing pigment
stomata
Tiny pores within the chloroplasts
stroma
thick fluid within the chloroplasts
two stages of Photosynthesis
1) light reaction 2) calvin cycle ( independant light cycle)
Phase one of Photosynthesis
1) ligth reactions, Cholorphyll in the thyakoid membranes absorbs solar energy, whick is then converted to the chemical energy of ATP and NADPH
ATP
is the molecule that drives most cellular work. created during the light reaction(phase one).
NADPH
an electron carrier. created during the light reaction (phase one) of photsynthesis.
