Math 251.510 Engineering Math III Spring 2012Math 251.510Engineering Math IIICourse DescriptionCatalog Description.Engineering Mathematics III. (3-0). Credit 3. Vector algebra, calculus of functions of several variables,partial derivatives, directional derivatives, gradient, multiple integration, line and surface integrals, Stokes’theorems. Prerequisite: MATH152 or equivalent.The learning objective of the course is mastery of the material. We will cover much of chapters 11-14 of thetext. ISBN: 0-534-49348-3.Basis for GradingYour grade will be based on four components: quizzes, homework, midterm examination, final examination.Your scores on these components will be averaged in two different ways.• Method I weightings: quizzes (30%), homework (10%), midterm (30%), final (30%).• Method II weightings: quizzes (10%), homework (10%), midterm (40%), final (40%).The larger of Method I and Method II will be your course score. The final examination will be comprehensive. Pleasebring your Texas A&M student ID with you to all exams.Online homework via Webassign is required in this class. Homework will be due weekly. For more infor-mation regarding online homework visit http://www.math.tamu.edu/courses/eHomework/.No late homework will be accepted for any reason. However the two lowest homework scores will bedropped before averaging.Short quizzes will be given typically once per week. There are no make-ups for homework and quizzes, but there isprovision to drop the two lowest scores (homework) and three lowest scores (quizzes) before averaging.
