MATH 251/501–502 INFORMATION SHEET1 CourseTexas A&M University at Qatar Science Program / Mathematics Department Math 251/501–502, Fall 2010Engineering Mathematics III (3-0), Credit 3. The first part of this course covers three-dimensional analytic geometry and vectors. The second part deals with differential calculus of functions of several variables: partial and directional derivatives, gradient, andmultivariable optimization (max/min). The third part covers principles and applications of multiple integration—double and tripleintegrals in rectangular, polar, cylindrical, spherical, and generalized coordinates. The fourth part deals with vector calculus—line andsurface integrals and the principal theorems associated with them. The class meets three times a week in lecture. (There is no recitationor computer laboratory.) Focus areas within this definition arewriting, math, and science. Ancillary skills, such as applied technology, college success strategies, multi-media applications, business and personal communication, computer-assisted language learning, career-building activities, and peer interaction arealso part of the mission of the center as they are appropriate to the total professional development of engineering graduates. Thedepartment.s tutors work with students both on-site and online (writing only) and the offices are located in suite 310, near thelibrary. Tutoring hours of operation are: weekdays 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM on-site, and 8:00 PM until 12 AM online, and Saturdays3:00 to 6:00 PM.
