COURSE SYLLABUS COURSE DESCRIPTION This course will provide church leaders the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills in developing more effective ministry in a variety of areas, including staff relations, women in ministry, preaching, retirement planning and worship. COURSE OBJECTIVES 1. To provide the resources for more effective ministry in staff relations, women in ministry, preaching, retirement planning and worship. 2. To equip church leaders in personal development that maximizes their gifts and abilities for more effective ministry in their local setting. COURSE REQUIREMENTS 1. Read 1000 pages from the section of the selected bibliography below related to the district council seminar that you attended. Submit a reading report (see attached sample) noting the books selected and the pages read. If the participant wishes to read books other than those listed in the select bibliography, she/he must request permission of the course instructor. 2. Prepare 5-8 page reflection paper on the District Council Seminar that you attended. Highlight the key issues that most directly affect your ministry setting with a view toward integrating your learning from the seminar into your ministry. 3. Prepare a written project of 8-10 pages in which you develop a plan for implementing the seminar and reading materials in your current ministry setting. While this is not a research assignment, per se, proper notation of the sources used in constructing your plan should be evident.PTHE 640 Pastor-Staff Relations Jay Taylor, D.Min./Cheryl Taylor, D.Min. Page 2 All assignments are to be typewritten, double-spaced, represent quality graduate level work, and follow the Turabian style manual, 6th edition. DUE DATE: All course work must be POSTMARKED no later than Saturday, August 9, 2003. NOTE: All post-session assignments must be postmarked by the due date. Work received after the due date specified on the syllabus may result in a change of grade fee ($15.00) being charged, even when an extension has been granted by the instructor.
