(candidate) Summer 2002COURSE SYLLABUSCOURSE DESCRIPTIONA study of basic principles in leadership management to enhance the minister, personallyand corporately, as pastor, leader, and manager of the local assembly.COURSE OBJECTIVESTo identify principles in the following areas of leadership management:1. Character – Managing self2. Credibility – Earning the right to lead and manage3. Collaboration – Involving others in the leadership and management4. Conflict – Managing conflict for positive results5. Change – Leading the congregation to the next level of God’s designCOURSE REQUIREMENTS1. Read the three textbooks and write a two to three page paper reflecting on theelements that you found most significant for your current ministry.2. Write a five to eight page reflection paper on the enhancement conference.Include the key elements from the seminar and discuss whether you are/aren’tintegrating some or all of these leadership principles in your current ministry.3. Write a ten to twelve page research paper on a topic of interest related to thecontent of the seminar or your additional reading assignment. The paper shoulddemonstrate an adequate understanding of the current literature on the subject. Itshould also focus on an aspect of your current ministry setting in which you needimprovement. A simple plan for implementation should precede the conclusionof the paper. A documented bibliography with a minimum of 1000 pages(including texts) is required. List books and number of pages read.
