For example, in India, Hindi is the official language, English has a special constitutional status and 22 other languages have constitutional statuses. These notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture. French is actually required tobe hired in certain areas like Quebec. The United States has no official language. Yes, sometimes multilingualism can be a problem. For example, people who speak only English can never get a job in Quebec. In India there is a conflict between the ideology they promote, and the amount of languages they deem worthy. This is confusing to people. In the United States it allows people to move here from another country and not have an excuse to learn English. On the other hand, it is not always a problem. Multilingualism gives our country more personality and culture. Also, the more languages a person knows, the more people he/she can communicate
