Some people you may make you feel closed off while others make you feel more open and comfortable. How a person decides if a person is using communicative gesture or useful gesture is different for everyone. This section is just to get you thinking about how you distinguish between the two. Also, how you would react to certain gestures (pointing for example). There is a difference between intentional and unintentional gestures. It is important to distinguish between the two in order to be successful socially. For example, playing with your hair in the middle of class might be an example of unintentional gestures. Sometimes the distinction between the two is less obvious than others. That is why miscommunication happens. For example, when a wolf feels threatened it lifts its upper lift to show his canine teeth. I may not look as scary on a person, but look in the mirror next time you feel threatened and you will see the resemblance. Finally, laughter could be the result of more than humor. Nervousness and shock are just two of the other things laughter could be
