Nationalism – a political ideology that involves a strong identification of a group of individuals with a nationb. Patriotism – a devotion to one’s homeland, one’s countryi. Can be negativec. Ideology – a set of ideas that constitute one’s goals, expectations, and actionsd. All three words are put together because of the idea to not think about things and move beyond our assumptionsII. Censorship/ National Securitya. Censorship – the suppression of speech or other public communication which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or inconvenient as determined by a government, media outlet, or other controlling bodyb. National security – the requirement to maintain the survival of the state through the useof economic power, diplomacy, power projection and political power by government operativesc. Where should the line be drawn?i. We can’t show people dying and stuff but that doesn’t mean we cant show anything at allii. This is something our political systems deals with on a political basisIII. State/ Terrorisma. Terrorism – the systematic use of terror, often violent, especially as a means of coercionb. State terrorism – used to refer to terrorist acts by government agents or forcesi. North KoreaIV. Euphemisma.
