Now property value will go down because the houses will be right next to a tollway. What is imminent domain?The Texas Northeast Gateway is using imminent domain to force people to sell their land so they can tear it down and build their tollway. Jerry Jones did this to many people when he wanted to build the Cowboy’s Stadium. Many people only got $55,000 max when normal houses are $100,000 and up. Texas now doesn’t allow imminent domain even though tollways are still doing this to people. What are some executive tools of persuasion?The governor has clemency powers where they can postpone an execution for up to 30 days. In 1936 the Board of Pardons and Paroles was created, absorbing many of the powers once conferred on the governor. The Party Chief is also a useful channel of influence.
