MCB184: Studying, Learning, Preparing {1} Your goals for this semester in this course [Purpose: to focus you] a. learn basic knowledge about biology b. learn how to do research with group member c develop a scientific thinking and try to use it to find answers. {1} How is Introductory Molec/Cell Biology relevant to your future/career (if it isn’t, say so) [Purpose: as #1] I want to be a doctor in the future. This class will provide me with basic information about biology. Molecular and cell are closely related with medicine {3} What did you come into the exam prepared to explain/answer about pH and its influence on biological molecules? 3-4 sentences/bullet points [Purpose: to allow you to assess what your preparation was in order to compare it to what was needful] PH is relative concentration of protons in solution. The high PH makes biological molecules be basic, which means positive. The low PH makes biological molecule be acid, which means negative {1 each = 2} Pick 2 questions that you missed on the multiple choice part of the exam. Write your own question that you believe calls for understanding the same concept(s) as the one you are replacing [Purpose: to encourage you to think carefully about what IS on the exam, and what understandings you NEED to perform well. Bring your preparation more in line with what you will see on exam]. Use version 1 numbering Two questions missed on the exam are 17 and 35 According to same concepts , I think out these two questions as follows How is fetal hemoglobin different than adult hemoglobin with regard to DPG binding? What happen if a tRNA carries the wrong amino acid? {3} Briefly describe one concrete, implementable change you intend to make to your learning approach that you believe would have allowed you to score significantly better on BigCheck #2 had you implemented it previously. [Purpose: the future will not change unless you move forward from the past. The above questions should direct your attention to mismatches between your preparation and outcome. Only if you identify actionable areas and act will any change occur] I used to review all of stuff before the exam, but I improved my learning approach. My new learning approach is to spend one hour in review lecture and lab every day and collect unknown questions and then ask for tutors in the Vetenary and Microbiology building.MCB184: Studying, Learning, Preparing Save this document as a .pdf file and submit to the MCB184 dropbox labeled “Big2 retrospective” by Mar. 12 @ 10
