Presentation GuidelinesIAH 204 Asia and the WorldTA Armstrong Presentation GuidelinesIAH 204 Asia and the WorldPart of your grade for this class will be giving a presentation during recitation about a literary work of your choice relating to the course material. You will present your chosen topic in groups of 2-3 students. A link to the sign up sheet online will be emailed to you, so be sure to check your MSU email account. - The topic you pick must be ONE literary work that was to be read the week of your presentation date. For example, if you sign up to present on Week 3, you must select a reading from Week 3 on the syllabus.- You must sign up online for your presentation no later than January 23rd, 2014. If you do not chose a presentation date by this time, one will be chosen for you. You should receive a link to the online sign up page in your MSU email within the first week of class. - Your presentation must be between 6 and 8 minutes. Points will be deducted if the presentation is too short or too long. It is important to practice and prepare before you present. - Because your presentations are in groups, the entire process of choosing a topic, creating the materials, and presenting is a group effort. Each member of your groupis expected to contribute equally. During your presentation, each group member willbe expected to speak and present. - You are not required to use PowerPoint, but you may do so if you like. Please email me your presentation slides before the beginning of recitation so we do not lose timesetting up. If I do not receive your PowerPoint file (or other visual aid file) before 7am the day you are scheduled to present, 1 point will be deducted from your total grade for the presentation.- All information taken from sources outside the course pack should be properly cited according to MLA, APA or Chicago Style guidelines. Information quoted from the course pack should reflect the following format: (CP course pack page/original page). For example, (CP 105/89). See me immediately if you do not know what this means or need help.TA Armstrong Rubric Your presentation is worth 10 points, which equals 10% of your grade. You will be graded with three criteria in mind: comprehension of the material, analysis and interpretation, andorganization. Finally, you will lose points for not properly citing material outside the course pack. When in doubt, cite it!Comprehension of Material (3 points)Analysis & Interpretation (4 points)Organization (3 points) 3: Clearly understands all points of the material covered4: Shows insight into the material with analysis and interpretation, substantially backs ideas with material3: Presentation is organized in a clear and concise way, student uses time effectively2: May be missing something orshow lack of understanding in some area3: Shows insight, support may be somewhat lacking2: Organization may be a bit erratic, presentation may be a little short or a little long1: Serious misunderstanding or gaps in material2: Shows some thought about material beyond what has been presented, gives some support for ideas1: Problems with organization weaken the presentation, presentation may be significantly under or over on time0: Does not relate to course material at all1: Has attempted interpretation, may be missing support0: Disorganized presentation causing confusion, serious problems with time.0: Only repeating material as given, no interpretation or support for ideasYour presentation should focus strongly on analyzing the literary work your group has chosen. Remember that a strong analysis will present new ideas that are supported with evidence from the text and explained to the class in a meaningful way. 1. In what way(s) is the author important?2.
