ESRI, the companythat produces the software, has a set of courses online that are designed to train people inthe use of their software packages. For this assignment, you will take the first module oftheir “Introduction to ArcView” online course. The first part of the module is free,however the rest of the course costs $125. For this assignment, you will only have tocomplete the free portion. Steps 1) Visit the ESRI Virtual Campus Site at:http://campus.esri.com/2) On the left side of the page, click on “Get Free Training”.3) The Campus offers 64 free training options. Click “Next” to browse thenext page. Scroll Down to the course entitled “Introduction to ArcView3.x”. Click this course you’ll enter into the course detail page. On theright panel click “TRY IT NOW”.4) At the bottom of the ESRI Global Login Page, click “create an ESRIGlobal account now”.5) Choose a Username and Password. Enter your choices. Make sure thatyour Username is 1~24 characters and password is 4-20 characters inlength. Use letters and numbers, NO SPACES or SPECIALCHARACTERS. The password is case-sensitive.Note: Be sure to write down your user name and password. We willnot finish this module in one lab.6) Fill in all required information. Click CREATE MY ESRI GLOBALACCOUNT.7) You will receive an email from ESRI about your registration. Just followthe link they provide to validate your email address and complete yourregistration. 8) Now you can login and enter into the actual course page. 8) Click the free module “Basics of ArcView”. Now you are ready to follow along in lab on the Learning Module. We will work on all three lessons: Introducing ArcView, Getting data intoArcView, and Displaying themes.NOTE: When we get to the exercises, the data has already been downloaded,and can be found in the data folder in the course web space on the J:\drive.Your success in future assignments (and the course) will require you tounderstand the basics of ArcView. If you don’t understand these fundamentals,the remaining assignments will be difficult.
