Program organized by event companies to recognize an individual or group who managed to achieve specific goals2. Can be employees of a company, clients, or even business partners-Example: Marriott reward points; cruises, free hotel rooms, tablets, TVs, jewelry, recreational equipment D. Convention, Conference, Congress1. Conventions, conferences, and congress are not the same 2. Conference: general and usually more formal meeting with the objective to provide information to debate, negotiate, prepare polices, or to come to agreements3. Conferences: a gathering for discussions, problem solving, fact-finding4. Congress: larger gathering sometimes taking place every 3 to 5 years E. Exhibitions and Tradeshows1. Currently, there are more than 1,100 venues globally2. Europe, as the most important market, and North America, followed by Asia are leading this part of MICE. 3. DECA- high school and college conference held annually in Bellevue for the state of Washington 3. 4H- a program that promotes the empowerment of youth through agriculture and horse back ridingB. MICE on a national level 1. Common places in the US are Orlando, FL and Las Vegas2. Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream-Conference held every year; three types of meetings Franchise owners, FAC, Managers-Community service community service project held in the area of the conference for all the owners, mangers, and employees to help out the community. C. MICE on an international level1. Beijing- China national convention center -23,000 sq. m, can be divided into 4 separate venues-Hosted/planned Olympic fencing, etc. 2.
