Due: Pre-Class 4/10/2014 Unit 5 Individual Fast Carbon Cycle Assignment Dropbox In order to prepare for a bonus pop quiz that you will complete in class, you should prepare answers to the questions on this assignment and upload a copy to eLC.Due Date: April 10, 2014 Pre-class1. Grandma Johnson had very sentimental feelings toward Johnson Canyon, Utah, where she and her late husband had honeymooned long ago. Because of these feelings, when she died she requested to be buried under a creosote bush in the canyon. In the space below, describe the path of a carbon atom from Grandma Johnson’s remains to inside the leg muscle of a coyote. Be as detailed as you can be about the specific process involved (photosynthesis, cellular respiration) and the forms carbon might be in (carbon dioxide, glucose) as it travels from Grandma Johnson to the coyote. (You can insert a picture or write a paragraph.)Before Grandma Johnson died, she had a hearty steak dinner. When the coyote ate her remains a lot of nutrients went to his body. Some of the remains inside the leg muscle of the coyote were from the hearty steak dinner Grandma ate before her heart attack. This from of carbon would most likely be glucose. The coyote also got calcium from Grandma’s healthy bones. She loved milk. This would also be in the form of glucose. Coyote didn’t find Grandma’s body for a good bit of time. Therefore grandma’s body was weathered and decayed. This caused the coyote to digest her flesh in the form of carbon dioxide. From all the nutrients coyote received from Grandma Johnson, he has a mighty leg muscle. 2.
