XenophobiaXenophobia is the fear of strangers. People with these phobia do not like to meet new people, do not like to interact with people and would prefer to be left alone.II. AgoraphobiaAgoraphobia is the fear of having a panic attack in a place where people could see you, such as outside or in crowded public places. These people have anxiety disorders and are afraid of crowds.III. Sex DiscriminationSe discrimination in the work place still happens today. Companies try to hide their sex discriminations by wording them differently. There are laws against sex discrimination but it is very hard to prove that it’s happening in the work place. A man and a woman could have the same qualifications and have the same job title, but in most cases the man would be making more money than the woman.IV. Race DiscriminationThese notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture. Companies would or wouldn’t hire people based on their skin color or race.V. Age DiscriminationMany companies find ways to hide their age discrimination by wording them differently. Companies would hire a younger person over an older person. Older people have a much harder time trying to find jobs than younger people.a. Age Discrimination in Employment Act (1967)The ADEA was created in an effort to try and stop age discrimination in the work place. It made sure that if a company did something that wasn’t right interms of age discrimination something was done about it. The ADEA promoted employment of older people based on their abilities, not their age.It banned discrimination against older workers without cause (firing, demoting). The ADEA does not specifically prohibit an employer from asking an applicant’s age or date of
