African American Theatres tried to answer the question of representation and portrayal of their race. Ensamble theatre in Houston, classical theatre of Harlem, Black representative in St. Louis. II. Latino Theatres all address difficulty and complexity of combining cultures. Chicano theatres were in southern California and founded by Balbez. They staged informative skits for migrant workers to educate them of their rights. Also there was a theatre with Cuban influence in Miami, and a Puerto Rico influenced theatre in New York. III. Asian Theatres are located in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and New York. There are thirty companies and all of them struggle for visibility. IV. Homosexuality are portrayed negatively and unmoral. In 1968 the boys in the band was the first to present gays without judgment. This led to regularly seeing gay characters and later gay playwrights. V. August Wilson was a playwright of poetic realism. He wrote ten plays known as the pittsburg cycle. They explore the black experience over the 20th century. However, these plays are not in chronological order. Each play is a different decade. Also, the characters in one play usually weren’t the same in the next.
