Broadway Declines because theatre as a form is less relevant. The white flight is when the whites move to suburbs and the inner city is left with the poor, low class of people. Because of this move, there is increased amount of crime, prostitution, drugs, and adult entertainment. The whites feel that it is unsafe to travel into town. Also, it is cheaper to stay at home. II. John kinder and Fred Ebb wrote musicals with a nostalgic focus or feel. Bob Fossy was the choreographer. He had the most iconic dance style. Hal Prince was the director and producer for this partner’s works. Famous works are Cabere and Chicago. These notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture. Famous works are company, Sweeney Todd, assassins, and into the woods. Company is formed around an idea rather than a plot. IV. Andrew Webber was the most famous composer with extravagant mega musicals. Famous works are Jesus Christ super star (rock opera), Evita, cats, and phantom of the opera. He has the two longest musicals on Broadway. V. 1975 Chorus Line was on the public theatre and the fifth longest musical on Broadway. Itwas about a group of dancers auditioning for a show on Broadway. During this musical there was not an intermissions and started the concept of entertainment through an elimination show. The first song is I hope I get it and the last song is one. VI. 1979 Sweeney Todd was about a barber who is bent on revenge and the women he liveswith. This became a musical thriller.
