exists today o Chain migration slowly bringing more and more people over from their families Anti Irish immigrant backlash Nativism anti immigration know two different definitions American citizens who consider themselves to be natives of America and want to protect America for Americans They even call themselves Native Americans but they are the WASPs These groups were very anti Catholic and anti immigrant These were the people that feared Irish would take over US They would form gangs and clubs know nothing party they didn t talk about their club or anything talked about within eventually the secret got out because they were the strongest political party against immigrants NINA no Irish need apply Irish and racial tensions White race African Americans Irish Irish and 5
