Purpose of the Strategies Component • Systematically walk the prospective funder through the steps the org proposes to carry out in order to accomplish its objectives Contents of the Strategies Component • Should provide detailed descriptions of the activities an org will take to achieve the goals • Also address whether the strategies selected are in place w/in org and being replicated by program or if they are new or being modified in some way • Describe the staff that will direct and implement the program and their qualifications and ID the client population served • Answer following question • What activities need to be carried out in order to meet the objective? • What are the starting and ending dates of these activities? • Who has the responsibility for completing each activity? • How will those served be identified? Or how will participants be selected? • How was the methodology determined to be the best one to solve the problem presented? Tips for Writing the Strategies Components • Align the org strategies to programs obj and problem statement • Tie strategies to the resources being requested in program budget • Explain rationale for choosing these strategies • Spell out the facilities and capital equipment that will be availaible • Build various activity phases on top of one another to move effort to desired results • Discuss who will be served and how they will be id • Do not assume the funder knows about the nonprofit, or what it hope to accomplish
