friends iv Physical I m too short too fat too thin v Sexual No one wants to be in a relationship with me b c I m not sexy i Higher levels of self esteem more comfortable in communicative settings and vice versa d Signs of a weak sense of self sensitive to criticism refuse flattery critical blaming others feelings of persecution 2 Self Love Accepting yourself as a worthy person b c you want to accepting yourself for who you are and not caring if other people cannot do the same Cognitive Processing Comprehending organizing and sorting of ideas and how we process these ideas in terms of our values attitudes and beliefs 1 Values what we think is of positive or negative worth 2 Attitudes predispositions 3 Beliefs convictions Cognitive Dissonance Imbalance between your attitudes values and who you are through your Johari Window determines your perception of yourself and how it affects how you communicate with yourself And also displays how others perceive you based on your willingness to reveal information Need Drives Affect communication b c they determine how we think feel express inspires us and how we react to how others express their need drives 1 Survival Reflexive actions that we instinctively use to ensure our existence a Calling for help ducking pleading 2 Pleasure Seeking The need to succeed and communicate the success to others for appraisal a Can find this in satisfying our own needs or the needs of others or by fulfilling long or short term goals 3 Security Seeks equilibrium and balance instead of lack of control or anxiety 4 Territoriality Places that make us feel secure and protected Anxiety Communication Apprehension Perceived threat of danger negative intrapersonal messages as they specifically relate to pleasure and security needs 1 Biological Response Need to protect yourself from danger fight or flight reaction 2 Personality Response Perfectionists have higher levels of anxiety 3 Overall Stress Levels Fear of failure
