How do intimate relationships differ from non-intimate ones? What is interdependence? Mutuality?2. Why do theorists hypothesize we have the human need to belong?3. How are human connection to pothers and intimacy related to mortality rates? Physical and mental health? Pain perception? Healing of physical wounds?4. Be familiar with the research on hand holding and threat (Coan, et al., 2006, page 4), as well as the Coyne, et al., 2001 (figure 1 on page 6) examining quality of marital relationships and mortality rates.5. How has our culture changed in the last 30 years in ways that would be significant for interpersonal relationships? How does culture have the potential for influencing our relationships?
