To do this, you will need to be able to consumer messages critically by analyzing how, or if the information helps you explain your topic. 12. 2Knowledge What are the types of presentation aids?- Written language- can take the form of bulleted lists, numbered lists, or tables thatyou can easily incorporate into a PowerPoint presentation. - Data graphics- pictures of numbers. Carefully chosen data displayed in an appropriate visual form can make complex information much easier to understand. - Diagrams- a visual representation that shows relationships between abstract ideas.However, unlike a data graphic, the information is not quantitative. - Illustrations/paintings- visuals that resemble what they represent. - Photographs- pictures of nouns. - Films/videos/animations- film, video, and animation include another dimension: time. They may also include sound.- Objects- the most concrete visual aid available. Your audience will see exactly what you are talking about in three dimensions.12. 3Knowledge What are the various ways you can display your presentation aid?- Screen- includes the use of overhead transparencies, computer/video projectors, and computer/television monitors. - Paper- paper is a mature technology that has a long history of use and well-established design principles. The visuals you create to support your presentation can be printed as handouts for each person in the audience, or you can create largeprints and posters to show from your speaking position. Once you have established a look or color scheme, stickwith it. - Alignment- by creating some strong alignments and edges you can clean up a messy visual relatively quickly. - Proximity- if two or more visual items are related, group them closely. Because oftheir proximity, your audience will immediately know to interpret them together. 12. 5Knowledge What are some guidelines for integrating your presentation aid into your speech?The presentation aid must be gracefully integrated into the message of the speech. Beforethe presentation, you should inspect the room for lighting and general setup, assemble everything need to display the presentation aid, and determine your position and the placement of the presentation
