It allows you to organize your ideas logically, giving you a better picture of the relationships among your ideas. In addition, this process allows you to use your critical thinking skills to refine your ideas, identify where you need additional support, and determine if the body of the speech is balanced. It allows you to strategically integrate transitions and clearly link the introduction and conclusion. A well-developed outline willalso reduce your public speaking anxiety. The speaking outline also contains delivery notes that remind you when you adjust your rate, tone, movement, and so on. 1) Initially, follow the same framework used in the preparation outline. This allows you to track exactly where you are in the speech at any given moment. 2) Outline has to be legible. Type out the outline using large fonts and generous margins to ensure that document is readable from a short distance. 3) Keep outline as brief as possible. This will force you to establish eye contact with your audience and will prevent you from reading to your audience. The speaking outline should incorporate key words that capture the essence of your ideas and help prompt you for full thoughts when you are looking down at your notes.4) Include delivery notes in the speaking outline. These notes will provide cues that help you during speaking. Delivery cues are words and phrases such as pause, eyecontact, and gesture that cue you to alter your verbal or non-verbal delivery of the speech. These cues will help you ensure that you deliver the speech the way you want while maintain connection with the audience.
