Ordering requires registration. File Note: To avoid REPLACING old files, create a unique file name for each set of results when saving to File. Email Note 1: Until you know how many citations your email system can handle, print your citation list, then experiment with sending citations with abstracts. (My GroupWise delivers only a dozen complete abstracts, a partial 13th, nothing at all beyond that.) Email Note 2: Emailed results from PubMed will be identify Sender as [email protected] Click on Clipboard tab (* on tab denotes there are items being held in Clipboard) to see list of selected items. Display defaults to Summary. To “prune” your list of selections, click in the checkbox of citations you DON’T want, then set Send to pulldown to Clip Remove. A dialog box gives you a chance to stop the deletion. Use pull-down menus and checkbox to set limits on search results. Click GO at bottom page or up by search box to apply limits. Yellow highlighted line beneath Limits tab reminds you of current limitsClick History tab to view already-tried strategies, previously –retrieved results or to HISTORYcombine results from previously-run searches. Click Clear History only if you want to erase ALL searches & results. To see results from previously-run searches click hyperlinked # under Result2 ways to combine previously-run searches: 1. Type in search set numbers with OR, AND or NOT 2. Click on set number and select desired action. To correct bad or incomplete citations, type what you know (or what you remember) in Single Citation Matcher and click Go. Use PubMed’s Journals Database to discover the full journal title from a title abbreviation … MeSH Database To search for citations on a particular topic using Medical Subject Headings… 2-minute tutorials demonstrate several types of search strategies.Type term in box. Suggests “similar” terms. Difference between “PubMed” and “PubMed Major Topic”: In Citation Display, you can see the subject headings that have been assigned to a citation. Those with * at the end are the major focus of this article. Those without * are subjects also discussed in article but not the main focus of the article. Select PubMed- Major Topic when searching on broad or common topics (like Cardiovascular Diseases) to limit retrieval to just those articles in which the topic is a main focus of the article.
