Later hewas sent for pianolessons to F.W Cossel,who then years laterpassed him on to his ownteacher Edward Marxsen.Before dying Brahmsreceived an honorarydegree at CambridgeUniversity.Born into a Lutheranfamily, Johannes was thesecond oldest child andfirst son of Jakob Brahmsand Johanna Nissen.Music was introduced tohim at the early age of 7.His father being a doublebassist in the HamburgPhilharmonic Societyinstructed him well in so.In result of Brahms’s andhis quite bold explorationof harmony and rhythmhe was highly lookedupon. He was a biginfluence on composersof both conservative andmodernist tendencies. Inthe lifetime of Johannes’she had made a hugeimpact on severalcomposers and somebeing within his owncircle.
