I will generally be available every afternoon but I can not guarantee I will be in my office unless you set up an appointment with me. A note about anatomy……. Anatomy is not an easy subject and you may find it to be the most challenging subject you will encounter in your undergraduate career. There is a minimum amount of knowledge you are expected by your college (nursing, pre-pharmacy and exercise science) to obtain in this course. I am under obligation to provide you with this material and to test you on it. I have done my best to pare down the content as much as possible while staying within the expectations of your college but you will still find the amount of material challenging. You must put forth effort to study the material on a daily basis to be successful in this course. I highly recommend that you set up study groups to go over the material before exams. Try very hard not to miss any classes. Take careful notes of what I say in class. If you find it difficult to keep up with my lectures please use a tape recorder to record them. If you have trouble understanding a concept please come to see me as soon as possible. I can also help you with study and note taking tips if needed.Summer 2009 Schedule: Date Lecture Topic Chapter Lab Topic Chapter Quizzes & Exams M 6-1 Body Organization, Cell 1,2 Metric System, Cells 1,2,4 T 6-2 Development, Meiosis 3 Mitosis, Meiosis 4 Quiz 1 W 6-3 Tissues 4 Tissues 5 Quiz 2 TH 6-4 Integument 5 Skin 6 Lecture Exam 1 M 6-8 Skeleton 6,7,8 Skeleton 9,10 Quiz 3 T 6-9 Articulations 9 Skin Cat Lab Exam 1 W 6-10 Muscles 10,11,12 Muscles 14 Quiz 4 TH 6-11 Respiratory System 25 Respiratory System 26 Lecture Exam 2 M 6-15 Digestive System 26 Digestive System 27 Quiz 5 T 6-16 Urinary System 27 Urinary System 28 Lab Exam 2 W 6-17 Reproductive System 28 Reproductive System 29 Quiz 6 TH 6-18 Circulatory System 21,22,23 Blood, Heart 22,23 Lecture Exam 3 M 6-22 Lymphatic System 24 Vessels 24 Quiz 7 T 6-23 Nervous System 14-18 Nervous System 16 Lab Exam 3 W 6-24 Nervous System 14-18 Nervous System 17 Quiz 8 TH 6-25 Sensory Systems 19 Sensory Systems 18,19 Lecture Exam 4 M 6-29 Endocrine System 20 Endocrine System Quiz 9 T 6-30 Exam only Lab Exam 4 W 7-1 Meet at 9am FINAL EXAM Being a summer class, the schedule is a bit grueling. The amount of information provided to you is the same as in the regular semester. This is not a “watered down” summer course. If you have a job or are taking a second class right now you might want to reconsider taking this course in the summer. I will be integrating the lecture and lab materials together on most days. Some lectures are longer then others so while we may occasionally get out a little early, plan on the classes lasting the entire 4.5 hours everyday. I will try to incorporate 15-30 minutes of break each day. To excel in this class you will likely have to spend some time after the scheduled time period to study lab content. The classroom is open to you 24/7 so please use it. You can access the building and room with your UCSA ID card. On lecture
