M2 Free Fall VI. Report(1) Three balls were dropped 5 times from a drop box that is held at a distance d. The balls were a distance y away from a flight pad. When the balls were dropped the time that it took the ball to hit the flight pad is recorded. d=27.2Steel Ball Nylon Ball Golf Bally=13.8 y=13.6 y=10.4t (sec) t2 (sec2) t (sec) t2 (sec2) t (sec) t2 (sec2)0.1673 0.0279 0.1682 0.0283 0.1542 0.02380.1684 0.0283 0.1680 0.0282 0.1537 0.02360.1670 0.0278 0.1673 0.0289 0.1604 0.02570.1673 0.0279 0.1676 0.0281 0.1583 0.02510.1681 0.0283 0.1691 0.0286 0.1627 0.0265 d=32.3Steel Ball Nylon Ball Golf Bally=17.7 y=17.6 y=14.7t (sec) t2 (sec2) t (sec) t2 (sec2) t (sec) t2 (sec2)0.1960 0.0384 0.1948 0.0380 0.1854 0.03430.1955 0.0382 0.1958 0.0383 0.1863 0.03470.1959 0.0384 0.1964 0.0386 0.1884 0.03550.1969 0.0388 0.1967 0.0387 0.1872 0.03500.1957 0.0383 0.1968 0.0387 0.1879 0.0353 d=37.3Steel Ball Nylon Ball Golf Bally=22.2 y=22.6 y=19.8t (sec) t2 (sec2) t (sec) t2 (sec2) t (sec) t2 (sec2)0.2207 0.0487 0.2200 0.0484 0.2164 0.04680.2201 0.0484 0.2243 0.5031 0.2169 0.04700.2202 0.0485 0.2222 0.0494 0.2129 0.04530.2207 0.0487 0.2261 0.0511 0.2252 0.05070.2195 0.0482 0.2213 0.0490 0.2169 0.0470d=42.3Steel Ball Nylon Ball Golf Bally=27.7 y=27.8 y=25.2t (sec) t2 (sec2) t (sec) t2 (sec2) t (sec) t2 (sec2)0.2433 0.0591 0.2451 0.0600 0.2398 0.05750.2442 0.0596 0.2439 0.0595 0.2474 0.06120.2429 0.0590 0.2473 0.0612 0.2429 0.05900.2438 0.0594 0.2556 0.0653 0.2375 0.05640.2428 0.0590 0.2472 0.0611 0.2418 0.0585 d=47.3Steel Ball Nylon Ball Golf Bally=33.3 y=32.2 y=30.4t (sec) t2 (sec2) t (sec) t2 (sec2) t (sec) t2 (sec2)0.2638 0.0696 0.2650 0.0702 0.2593 0.06720.2635 0.0694 0.2686 0.0721 0.2610 0.06810.2635 0.0694 0.2647 0.0701 0.2585 0.06680.2635 0.0694 0.2647 0.0701 0.2596 0.06740.2628 0.0691 0.2636 0.0695 0.2644 0.0699 d=52.3Steel Ball Nylon Ball Golf Bally=37.6 y=37.5 y=35.0t (sec) t2 (sec2) t (sec) t2 (sec2) t (sec) t2 (sec2)0.2814 0.0792 0.2806 0.0787 0.2775 0.07700.2813 0.0791 0.2946 0.0868 0.2777 0.07710.2818 0.0794 0.2809 0.0789 0.2812 0.07910.2814 0.0792 0.2818 0.0794 0.2786 0.07760.2814 0.0792 0.2809 0.0789 0.2780 0.0773(2)y vs. t2 for the steel bally vs. t2 for the nylon bally vs. t2 for the golf ballThe slope for the Steel ball is 952.9 ±5.2. In this case g is not in the range of the accepted value of 980. The slope for Nylon ball is 946.9 ±8.6. In this case g is not in the range of the accepted value. The slop for the Golf ball is 934.3 ±7.4.(3)d vs. t2 for the steel balld vs. t2 for the nylon ball d vs. t2 for the golf ball The slope for the Steel ball is 976.2 ±1.4. In this case g is not in the range of the accepted value of 980. The slope for Nylon ball is 944.3 ±8.7. In this case g is not in the range of the accepted value. The slope for the Golf ball is 934.1 ±7.1. The uncertainties of g are very similar to those obtained using the measurements of y. The only huge difference is that of the steel ball. The steel ball has a larger uncertainty with the measurements of y because y is a shorter distance from the flight pad than d, and the lower an object is to the ground the less gravity needed to keep in down.(4) The value of g for the hollow golf ball was smallest, and this is because this ball has a larger diameter and is closer to the flight pad than the other balls. This is shown because at each distance the golf ball always has a smaller y value, compared to the other
