aroused whenever people experience inconsistency between two cognitions about their own behavior behaviors implication is that people will try to change their cognitions to make it more consistent with their ex after placing a bet on a horse bettors will reduce the dissonance associated with all of the negative features of the horse and all the positive features of the other competing horses
