Demonstrate safe and proper operation of shop tools and basic theatrical riggingThese notes represent a detailed interpretation of the professor’s lecture. GradeBuddy is best used as a supplement to your own notes, not as a substitute.b. Correctly execute basic scenic construction projects from shop working drawings.c. Demonstrate knowledge of typical theatrical organization and architecture, staged. mechanics, properties, lighting, and scenic painting.e. Identify key elements of theatrical tools, hardware, and theatrical organization.III. Attendancea. Students will be forgiven up to 2 lectures sessionsand up to 1 lab session. Each additional absence will result in loss of one letter grade. Student is responsible for all information covered in any missed session.b. Tardiness will be noted in roll. 4 tardies equals one absence. Tardiness of more than 20 minutes will count as an absence.IV. Class Proceduresa. Do readings before class meetingb. Missed lab hours cannot be made upc. You must clock in your time card when you arrive and clock out when you leave-failure to do so will be an absenced. Optional lab hours on Friday 2-6, for experience, not creditV. Class Policiesa. The following will result in dismissal from class or lab to be counted as an absence:b. Sleeping.c. Loud or disruptive behavior.d. Use of cell phone or other electronic device.e. Inappropriate attire.VI. Performance Critiquesa. You are required to write four critiques, each of a full length theatre production that you see this semester, two of which must be TheatreVCU mainstage shows.b. Critiques should be one page, single spaced, written with accurate grammar and spelling, and should focus on the production values (set, lighting, costumes, sound) and how those elements related to the play. c. Critiques must be turned in by hand at start of class. d. Electronic copies will not be accepted. Late papers will not be accepted. See the class schedule below for due dates.VII. Shop Dress Codea. Proper attire must be worn at all time. Long sleeves. Long pants. Closed toed shoes. No dangling jewelry or loose attire.VIII. Gradingb. Lab Participation 15% 75 pointsc. Critiques 10% 50 points (12.5 pts. each)d. Tests 45% 225 points (75 pts. each)e. Final Exam 30% 150
