CIS 764 - Reverse Engineering a Database Using JDeveloper Jack Gardner, 10/4/04 1. Create a database connection if you don’t already have one. a. From the Connections – Navigator pane, right-click Database and select New Database Connection… b. Click Next.c. Specify a new Connection Name and Connection Type of Oracle. d. Specify your database account Username and Password.e. Complete the next dialog as shown. f. Clicking Test Connection should produce a status of success. Click Finish to complete connection creation.2. Create a new application workspace. a. From the Applications – Navigator pane, right-click Applications and select New Application Workspace… b. Complete the dialog and click OK.3. Create a new Database Diagram. a. Under the newly created application workspace, right-click Project and select New… b. Under Categories, expand General and select Diagrams. c. Under Items, select Database Diagram and click OK.d. Specify diagram Name and Package as desired and click OK. e. A blank database diagram will be shown.4. Import the database tables. a. Go back to the Connections – Navigator pane. b. Expand your database connection – this will connect to the database. c. Expand your database account name and then expand Tables – this will show the tables in your database.d. Under Tables, select all the table names and drag them from the tree to the database diagram. The following dialog will be displayed. Click OK. e. The tables will be imported from the database.f. The tables and relationships will be added to the database diagram. You can then edit the diagram to move the objects around so it makes
