CREATING A BC4J APPLICATION – Martin Samuel Rao Paradesi Pre-requisites: Download and install Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.3 Early Access from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/jdev/index.html and get access to an Oracle database. Steps: 1. Run JDeveloper2. In the Applications Navigator panel, right click on Applications and click on New Application3. Type the application name (BC4J Application) and select No Template [All Technologies] from application template and click OK4. Type the project name (BC4J)5. Now the screen appears like this6. Right click on BC4J project and click on New7. Select the Business components from tables from the ADF Business Components tab in the Business Tier and click OK8. Create a new database connection9. Click Next10. Type the connection name (BC4J) and click Next11. Type your username (pmsr) and password (passwd) and click Next12. Type the hostname (oracle.cis.ksu.edu) and SID (oracle)13. Test the connection and click Next14. Click Finish15. Select BC4J connection and click OK16. Click OK17. Click Next18. Select EMPLOYEE table and click on > button19. Click Next20. Click Next21. Click Next22. Type the package (BC4Jpackage) and name (AppModule)23. Click Next24. Click Finish25. Now the screen appears like this26. Double click on Employee entity object27. Select Employeeno from Validation and click on New28. Select Range Validator from Rule and type the Minimum Value (100), Maximum Value (125) and Error Message (Employee number out of bounds) and click OK29. Click OK30. Double click on EmployeeView view object31. Click on Attributes32. Select Deptno and Type and click < button33. Now the screen appears like this34. Select SQL Statement and type Employee.EMPLOYEENO in Order By and click on OK35. Now the screen appears like this36. Right click on AppModule and click Test37. Click on Connect38.
