(Dameka Ross Journal 1)Leadership is something that I believe has evolved through the years. The Ford web site is a great example of how leadership is not about one person, but a group of people working together towards a common goal. This summer Ihad an internship with General Motors. I was very surprised to see how global they are. The group that I worked with wasin contact with different countries like Spain and Germany at least once a week. Ford describes leadership as being able to work together. That is exactly what it is, people being able to come together. A long time ago I always thought of a leader as a single person in charge. For example the president of an organization would be the leaderand he would dictate to everyone what he wants done. Leadersand their roles have definitely evolved for the better. No matter what ones title is the opinion of everyone in a groupis important.Although leading has changed it still has its problems.From past experience I have noticed that usually there is one person in a group who likes to take over and only implement their ideas. When in a group everyone has a right to his or her opinion. Also while working in a group there may be conflicting personalities, meaning everyone does notget along. While working in a group one has to put personal feelings aside and focus on the goal. So, leading does have some bad points, but if everyone stays focused the goal willbe reached.
