(Roberson –Journal 1)The Ford Motor Company Leadership website was very helpful. I agreed with the steps on how to make a team more motivated. As a leader you have to know how to motivate your team to complete a certain task. The steps identified in the article were very insightful on how to do this. I feel the two most important steps of motivating a team is to listen and delegate power. In listening you are giving others within your team a chanceto express their ideas. By getting these ideas can make your job a little easier in a sense that you will have more options on how to complete a task. Also being a good listener give you the insight as to who may not be happy and in turn you are better equipped to handle this situation. This also shows that you care about the well being of the team. Delegating power allows you the chance to see which members will step up to the plate when called on. Every leader needs help that’s why it is essential to delegate. The leaderof our nation George Bush does not lead alone. Delegation shows that you trust your team and its ability to complete a task.I feel being a leader is a process that is necessary in today’s society. At first it canseem a little hard, but most of that is due to all the components that it takes to be a successful leader. You have to be able to know how to use each component. In order to be successful each team member has to know that the people working with him or her will do their part for the benefit of the team. Not trusting your team can lead to dissention among the group. Another issue that team face is being able to unite for the purpose of the team. A team has to be unified whether or not they like a person. These ill feelings must be put aside when it comes to the team or the team will fail. Comments: “People’s perceptions change all the time therefore the definition of a leaderwill always change.” Good point. Leadership, then, seems to be so often a negotiated process that is fluid and changing and not “stuck in time” nor unable to change for the good of the group. You’re also commenting on the idea that the team has some responsibility in order for leading to be carried out—for example, “A team has to be unified whether or not they like a person. These ill feelings must be put aside when it comes to the team or the team will fail.” It gives one cause to question whether or not leaders are universally “popular” or only able to lead so long as they are pleasing the group. You raised some very good points in
