Another name for foreskin; Tissue above clitoris that acts as a hood
Batholin's Glands
produce secretion during arousal; located near the opening through the minora lips

outer opening of the vagina
hymen
membraneous tissue that CAN cover part of the vagina
Clitoris
Organ that becomes engorged with blood during sexual arousal; Found in female vulva
glans (of female)
Sensitive head of female clitoris
shaft (of female)
the longer body of the clitoris contains erectile tissue
smegma
thick, oily substances that builds under the prepuce of clitoris
Circumcision
surgical procedure that cuts the prepuce
Clitoridectomy
surgical removal of the clitoris
Infibulation
Surgical procedure sealing lips of the vagina
vagina
muscular canal in female
vaginismus
involuntary vagina spasms, causes the vagina to close and makes intercourse extremely difficult
pubococcygeous muscles
part of the supporting musculature of the vagina that is involved in orgasmic response
In-perforate hymen
No natural opeing in hymen
Fibrous Hymen
A hymen that is unnaturally think tissue
Varicose Veins
Over expanded blood vessels sometimes occuring in the vagina
Vaginal Fistulae
Abnormal channels that can develop between the vagina and other organs
Uterus
Muscular organ; holds bebeh.
Cervix
Lower neck of uterus
Isthus
Narrowed portion of uterus just above cervix
Fundus
Broad top part of uterus
Os
Opening of cervix that leads to uterus
Perimetrium
Outer covering of the uterus
Myometrium
Middle muscular layer of the uterine wall
Endometrium
Interior lining of the uterus
Paps smear
medical tests that examines a smear of cervical cells to detect any abonormalitites
Ovaries
pair of female gonads, they mature ova
Ova
egg cells produced in ovary
