Ground Rules for MA 26100, Fall 2009Homework: There are 37 online assignments using WebAssign(https://www.webassign.net/purdue/login.html). Due dates and times are listed on theWebAssign CourseView by the Assignments. Generally, homeworks from Friday and Mondaylectures are due Tuesday at 11:55 PM and homework from Wednesday’s lecture is due Thursdayat 11:55 PM.Transfers: If you transfer sections your WebAssign account will transfer too. However you willneed to notify the TA of your new section so that he/she can have your past scores moved over.Late Registration: If you have not yet registered for the course but intend to, you should askthe TA for the section you are attending to get you a WebAssign account and you should startsubmitting the assignments. There is a two week trial period for the WebAssign account. Afterthat you will have to pay the (nonrefundable) access fee.Quizzes: Generally, there will be a quiz in every recitation class, except during dead week. Quizproblems will be similar to the homework problems.Policy on Late Homework and Missed Quizzes: Late homework will not be accepted. Nomake-up quizzes will be given. At the end of the semester, the 3 lowest homework scores and the3 lowest quiz scores will be dropped. Students who are forced to miss class for an extended periodof time should see their lecturers.Midterm exams: There will be two, one-hour, multiple choice, midterm exams.Exam 1–Wednesday, October 7, 6:30-7:30 pm, in ELL 116.Exam 2–Monday, November 9, 6:30-7:30 pm, in ELL 116.Grades: Course grades will be determined from your total score which will be computed as follows:Homework 100 ptsQuizzes 50 pts2 midterms at 100 each 200 ptsComprehensive Final Exam 200ptsTotal 550 ptsWeb Pages for MA 26100: http://www.math.purdue.edu/MA26100Office Hours: www.math.purdue.edu/academic/officehours/MA26100Calculators: Calculators are not allowed on exams or quizzes.Academic Adjustments for Students with Disabilities: Students who have been certified bythe Office of the Dean of Students–Disabilities Resource Center as eligible for academic adjustmentsshould go to MATH 242 with a copy of their certification letter and request an Information sheetfor this semester that explains how to proceed this semester to get these adjustments made inMathematics courses. It is not the same as last semester. This should be done during the firstweek of classes. Only students who have been certified by the ODOS-Disabilities Resource Centerand who have requested ODOS to send their certification letter to their instructor are eligible foracademic adjustments. Students who are currently undergoing an evaluation process to determinewhether they are eligible for academic adjustments, are encouraged to find out now what proceduresthey will have to follow when they are certified, by requesting the above mentioned InformationSheet from MATH 242. Large print copies of the Information Sheet are available from MATH 242upon request.Important Dates:Last day for a student to drop a course without it being recorded: Friday, September 4, 2009,5:00pm.Last day for a student to drop a course without a grade: Monday, September 21, 2009, 5:00pm.Last day for a student to drop a course with a passing or failing grade: Wednesday, October 28,2009, 5:00pm.Other issues:In the event of a major campus emergency, course requirements, deadlines and grading percentagesare subject to changes that may be necessitated by a revised semester calendar or other circum-stances beyond the instructors control.
