presentations but many are concerned about the potentially negative effects such presentations can have on instruction TPE tip A well developed educational presentation can serve as an artifact for TPE 4 Making Content Accessible or TPE 10 Instructional Time if used with presenter tools After reading the articles on the educational use and abuse of presentation software summarize how presentations should be constructed and delivered to maximize learning and minimize abuse Locate and download one or more PowerPoint presentations relevant to your teaching needs Include the URL of the location from which you obtained them and summarize the PowerPoint and where in your curriculum you will use it Make a PowerPoint presentation to teach a lesson in your subject area keeping in much text that the students need to write down The students will not be trying to learn the lesson but will be focused on taking notes The text should have bullet points on certain topics and the teacher should elaborate on the topic If the teacher is just reading the slides he she is not teaching the students Teachers need to engage students with questions and discussions regarding the information on the power point Teachers should be using active supervision while presenting the power point to ensure that all students are paying attention and participating in class The power point should include examples that are not from the textbook The textbook shows the students how to complete the problem Teachers need to use other examples so students can have various examples to reference Although power point is very useful there are some concerns If you prepare a power point presentation for class and the files you have are not combatable with the schools computer you will not be able to show some if not all of you power point Other concerns are if the file is damaged by a magnet or has physical damage You will not be able to present your lesson Always be prepared to
